About Alicia

Alicia C. Aguirre is in her 19th year as a professor at Cañada College. Alicia has been an educator for the past 33 years. She holds an M.A. in Education and has done doctoral studies at the Universidad Iberoamericana. She was recently honored as a Fulbright Exchange Professor. She served as a Trustee for the Redwood City School District for six years.

Alicia has been a long time resident and homeowner in Redwood City. She is married and has two sons. She has been a very involved parent in her sons’ school committees and sports organizations including Little League, Pop Warner AYSO, and CYSA.

Alicia also served on the statewide educational board, California Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (CATESOL). She is a graduate of the Leadership Redwood City Program, the Partnership Academy for Community Team Building (PACT) and Community Builders Program. She is currently serving on the California League of Cities Comission on Transportation, Communication and Public Works and on the Gateway 2020 Dumbarton Extension.
